Articles From Our April 2009 Newsletter

Dear PFLAG Family,

March brought a presentation from Save Inc., an organization that provides or assists with housing for people living with HIV or AIDS.

Please remember that our April meeting will be held on the third Sunday due to Easter.

April will bring representatives from Hope House. Our annual Mother’s Day potluck luncheon will take place on Sunday May 10 at the regular meeting time. If you have an idea for a program or speaker, please contact any Board member.

I want to bring to your attention that AIDS Walk will be taking place on Saturday April 25th on the Plaza, close to the Nelson art gallery. There will a sign up sheet for walkers at the meeting. Please contact Carolyn Finken-Dove if you are interested in walking. Also, Pridefest will be taking place June 6-7 (Saturday and Sunday) at Penn Valley Park, close to the Liberty Memorial. We will be signing up volunteers to staff a table most of the day on Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am to 6:00 PM, both days depending on traffic. I would encourage you to attend Pridefest, whether or not you work the table. There are lots of other organizations present and networking is a must. Please contact me or any Board member for information. On April 18, at Liberty High School, there will be a “walk a mile in her shoes”, with registration starting at 8:30 am and the walk at 9:30 am for a couple of hours. This is a fundraiser for KC Anti Violence Project. Also on April 18 is the Mid American Freedom Band concert. The website is not known at this time nor is the location of the concert for sure. Check elsewhere in this newsletter for further information. The 3rd annual LGCCKC picnic will take place on May 17 at Swope Park. More information will be available at the meeting. Please watch our website for updates.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the April meeting.

Thank you for all that you do within our organization and our community as a whole!

Randy
