Articles From Our May 2009 Newsletter

Dear PFLAG Family,

April brought a presentation from Hope House, a skilled nursing facility for people living with HIV or AIDS.

Our annual Mother’s Day potluck luncheon will take place on Sunday May 10 at the regular meeting time. There will be no formal program. If you have an idea for a program or speaker, please contact any Board member.

We had a terrific morning for the AIDS Walk. Dry weather and clouds created ideal conditions for the 3 mile walk. After last year when 3 of us walked, I was grateful for 9 participants on our team.

The 3rd annual LGCCKC picnic will take place on Sunday May 17 at Swope Park. More information will be available at the meeting. If you are interested in attending the picnic, please let me know so that we can let the Community Center know. Please watch our website for updates. Let me know if you are interested in carpooling from my house meeting approximately 11:00 am.

Also, Pridefest will be taking place June 6-7 (Saturday and Sunday) at Penn Valley Park, close to the Liberty Memorial. We will be signing up volunteers to staff a table most of the day on Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am to 6:00 PM, both days depending on traffic. I would encourage you to attend Pridefest, whether or not you work the table. There are lots of other organizations present and networking is a must. Please contact me or any Board member for information. If you are interested in staffing the information table for a couple of hours on either day or both, there will be a sign up sheet at the May gathering or you can contact Carolyn Finken-Dove.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the May meeting.

Thank you for all that you do within our organization and our community as a whole!

Randy
